What’s up with the name?
We love the speculation! Zoe & Mia are owner Barts twin six-year old daughters AKA Zobo & Meester. Adorable, right?
What’s the story?
Bart has been wowing friends and family with his culinary prowess for years but having twin daughters was the ultimate catalyst. As a foodie and local, he saw a need in Palm Springs and Cathedral City for the fresh, "from scratch" food Bart perfected in preparing meals for his girls. As a parent, he wanted to show the girls that with dedication and hard work you can achieve your dreams.
What’s up with the food?
Bart only allows for FRESH, FRESH, FRESH! There are no freezers in Zobo & Meesters and everything is made to order with the freshest ingredients. Bart loves tinkering in tastes, so every sauce is his own recipe. Those unctuous pickles? He did that with his own pickling process. The delicious chili on the Cat City 4-Way? Bubbling on the stove while he adds the secret ingredients. That ranch dressing that is so addictive dipping your French Fries...? From scratch. Want one of his recipes? Probably not happening but ask him and he may talk shop with you.
How about the location?
Bart first saw the Restaurant Impossible story of Tootie’s BBQ, the former tenant, and was excited to check it out. He was heartbroken when he learned owner Eileen Smith passed away pre-airing of the show, but when he discovered the space was available for a new restaurant owner it seemed like fate smiled on him. Today they keep an honorary tribute to Eileen as a remembrance and thank you for the inspiration.
